Tentative Agreement Reached on 2018-19 Salaries; vote by November 27

On Thursday, November 1, the UFF-UF bargaining team reached a tentative agreement with representatives of the UF Board of Trustees on salary increases for the 2018-2019 academic year. The tentative agreement will not take effect, however, until the bargaining unit votes to ratify it.

The agreement calls for a one-time lump sum bonus to all members of the bargaining unit. The money available for this bonus is equal to 4% of all in-unit faculty members’ salaries.

This bonus will be awarded as a

  • 1% across-the-board bonus to all eligible faculty, with faculty whose salary is below $50,000 receiving a lump sum payment of $1,000, prorated to their FTE and
  • 3% merit payment allocated according to department by-laws

P.K. Yonge faculty will receive a comparable one-time lump sum payment.

More information on the UFF bargaining team’s rationale and goals, and a pdf of the tentative agreement on Article 24 can be found here (link).

How to Vote

All members of the bargaining unit are eligible to vote, regardless of union membership status.

P.K. Yonge faculty will hold a vote at the school.

All other faculty will get their ballots by mail, at their home addresses.  All mail ballots must be received by Tuesday, November 27. If you do not receive a ballot, or have any questions about voting, please contact UFF-UF:  officemanager@uff-uf.org.

Ballots will be publicly counted on Wednesday, November 28 at 5 pm in 308 Yon Hall, and the results announced immediately afterward. A YES vote indicates that the bargaining unit accepts this offer. A NO vote will result in the Board of Trustees withdrawing their offer. If faculty members ratify this agreement, it will take effect on December 21, 2018.
