We need your vote! Starting January 14th, 2026, the Florida Public Employees Relations Commissions (PERC) will begin mailing a critically important piece of mail to your home address. This mail will contain a ballot asking you to vote (once again!) on whether you’d like faculty workers at UF to have a union and a collective bargaining agreement that protects your rights.
When you receive your ballot, vote ‘YES’ and mail it IMMEDIATELY. At the very latest, please mail your ballot by Fri., 6 Feb. If your ballot does not arrive in PERC’s mailbox by 9am on Weds., 11 Feb., it will not count!
Here’s what’s at stake in this election:
- If a majority of participants in this election vote ‘YES,’ UFF-UF will retain its legal right to represent UF faculty for an additional twelve months.
- If a majority of participants in this election vote ‘NO,’ UFF-UF will be decertified, the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) will cease to exist, and UF faculty will no longer have a union or a collective voice.
Please note: PERC will NOT include postage in their ballot mailing. You will therefore be responsible for affixing one forever stamp to the envelope containing your completed ballot. You can, of course, purchase stamps at any USPS location or in many stores while you run errands.

Turnout is crucial! We don’t just want a majority of those who cast a ballot to vote ‘YES.’ We want a majority of people in the bargaining unit to vote ‘YES’ because a recently-proposed piece of state legislation will require exactly that. Some of you might recall that when UFF-UF was first certified, we had well over 80% of the bargaining unit vote ‘YES.’ Help us repeat this mandate!
Deja Vu? If you feel like you just participated in one of these recertification elections, you’re absolutely right! Last spring, 686 UF faculty members voted in the 2025 recertification election, with over 95% casting a ballot in favor of UFF-UF. Unfortunately, under the terms of a 2023 union-busting bill, we now need to repeat this costly, time-consuming ritual every year – unless, critically, we reach 60% membership density.
So, please, vote ‘YES’ as soon as you receive your ballot. This election is your opportunity to protect your workplace rights, stand up for your students and colleagues, and affirm your commitment to collective action.
